Fixing Points - Shower Replacement

PLEASE READ

It is a condition of the manufacturers warranty that all fixing points are used when securing the shower unit to the wall, However when not replacing your shower with an identical model sometimes it will not be possible to use all fixing points if :

  1. There is a hole in the wall where the fixing point needs to go.
  2. Manoeuvring the shower to a fixing point is not possible due to the water pipe or electric cable does not permit this.
  3. Any overlapping tile has no plasterboard behind to support it when fixing a plug and screw - The tile will crack and fall away.
  4. Previous shower was tiled up to sides only - NO new shower will fit !

We will offer to install a 5mm acrylic backing panel for £79 to ensure all fixing points can be used, If the offer is not accepted then there could be an issue with any future manufacturer warranty claim. We do NOT insist on a backing panel however the onus would be on you if there is a warranty claim throughout the warranty period and the manufacturer may or may not refuse service.

Typical bad installation with no tiles behind the old shower - tiled up to the sides only.

We cut and shape a new support panel to cover over the cavity enabling all fixing points on the shower unit to be used thus avoiding any potential warranty issues.

There is an additional charge for re-routing cables or pipes OUTSIDE the actual shower unit.

Isolation pull cord or wall mounted switches

We will not accept any claims for seized isolation pull cord switches or wall mounted isolation switches or Mcb's they sometimes will stick in the on or off position or trip after many years of use, these parts wear out although you may not physically see it. The electrical system generates heat and eventually any switches breaks down through expansion and contraction leading to brittle parts.

Testing your isolation switch

We always test your isolation switch before removing any shower - Sometimes it is the switch that is at fault and the shower is working ok. In these circumstances we charge £89 for the travel time & diagnosis and leave it at that - We can only test for voltage not amps, The test meter will indicate 240 volts but does not indicate the required amps to operate an electric shower. We cannot test the amps until a fully functioning shower is installed ! - If your old shower is burnt out we cannot test the circuit for amps being drawn because the shower is burnt out - chicken and egg situation. In this situation we would expect to be paid in full for the newly installed shower and can arrange for our electrician to replace your faulty switch.

Quotes - We reserve the right to cancel free quotes appointments with little or no notice if a paying repair job is called in.

Whilst we take every care We do not accept responsibility for cracked shower bases or baths where it is reasonable to accept that we will need to stand on or in trays or baths whilst performing an install of new shower units. We will not accept responsibility for seized nuts, bolts and clamps that cannot be loosened to remove. We will not accept any claim for marks, scratches, chips or cracks to basins and pedestals, toilet systems or bath panels where the fixings are seized, non standard fixing or have been tiled up to or over any edges of the items requiring servicing or replacement.

Any diagnosis work is chargeable at the agreed £89 hourly rate for example discovering a repair that is beyond your expected budget & you decline the work to be carried out OR involves cosmetic damage to walls or ceilings occurring to gain access to a repair that you are not prepared to have done will be deemed as a diagnosis of the work needed to be done and therefore is chargeable. Any cosmetic damage caused to walls, ceiling, fixtures or fittings that occurs as a direct result to gaining access to a necessary repair is the the sole responsibility of the customer to have made good and to absorb all costs.

Faults within your warranty period we of course honour our commitments when things sometimes go wrong however when it is a  manufacturer or customer fault - We charge a call out fee £89 payable upfront before attending to establish the problem and if our installation is at fault then we shall rectify free of charge and of course refund any fee paid.

WE will only consider any claim for a leak that may occur from the water connection to the shower inlet only ( compression fitting elbow or Speedfit ) - Leaks from any other part of the shower will be covered by the shower manufacturer.

If it is found that any fault is not a result of our fitting or equipment has not been used ( Or you have replaced the shower hose or shower head ) [ OR is covered by manufacturer warranty ] correctly we will not accept any responsibility for repairs or replacement. We are insured to a maximum value of 2 million pounds in the extreme unlikely event of unintentional damage to persons or property.

Stopcocks

Seized stopcocks,  It is the customers responsibility to ensure stop cocks, isolation valves, regulating valves are in good working order and are not seized. We find that forcing a seized valve tends to break the handle or create a drip.

We will look for an outside stop cock however it is your responsibility to ensure the chamber is not full with soil or debris or the lid is seized shut and cannot be opened.

We will not empty such chambers due to sharp edges, glass, sharp stones etc. Your water supplier will come out and clear the chamber FREE OF CHARGE. Severn Trent for example cover the Birmingham area.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY FOR LEAKING STOPS COCKS OR ISOLATION VALVES JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE TURNED THE WATER ON OR OFF.
We will repair of course [ if we can ] but there will be a charge for the repair.. after all the stopcock would still leak if the customer should close or open the valve.

Failure to check the operation of your stopcock prior to our arrival will be charged £89 if it is seized and no other means to turn off the supply,  to cover our travelling time and cancellation. Failure to pay this charge automatically cancels the job in its entirety. It is not our job to know where your stopcock is situated or the outside stopcock. Ask yourself what you would do if a pipe suddenly burst ?

We can repair or replace seized indoor stopcocks IF the outside stopcock can be accessed and can be turned off - However kitchen installers sometimes don't appreciate how important it is to have reasonable access to stopcocks when throwing in cupboards in front of them or building cavity walls around them with just the handle poking out !

Any deposits will be deducted from your final bill. Stock that has been ordered in and paid for will be deducted from your deposit if you cancel your order or there is no answer at your door where an appointment was made. It is your responsibility to inform us if your situation changes.

Sorry but WE DO NOT VISIT PREMISES TO GIVE quotes for small repairs. Please call and discuss your repair and we can ESTIMATE the time needed to fulfil your request based on your description of what needs to be done.

We now have to insist on payment immediately after completion of our supply & fit showers - We have always been paid for our excellent work however relying on customers promising to pay by Bacs or debit cards over the phone same day has proved to be labour intensive having to remind them to cough up ! not all not all - but the odd customer will delay and spoils it for everyone else. Failure to pay or pay on time may invalidate any guarantee or warranty on our goods or services.

If you cannot be present when we fit showers or other services - we now have to insist on payment upfront.
